Do I Qualify for a TheraSphere Clinical Trial?

Eligibility for clinical research studies depends on certain patient criteria, such as age, type of disease, and overall medical condition. If your doctor says that you are eligible for one of the TheraSphere® clinical trials, consider volunteering. Your doctor will be happy to discuss your options with you.

We are conducting several clinical research studies with TheraSphere®. You may qualify for one of these trials. For further inquiries about participating in a TheraSphere® clinical trial, please contact your doctor.


DO I QUALIFY FOR THE EPOCH TRIAL IN METASTATIC COLORECTAL CANCER OF THE LIVER?

To qualify for the EPOCH trial, you must:25,26
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have metastatic colorectal cancer of the liver, with disease progression with first-line chemotherapy (either oxaliplatin- or irinotecan-based regimen)
  • Be eligible for second-line chemotherapy with alternate regimen
  • Pass specific lab tests

Participants in the EPOCH trial must not:
  • Have prior intraarterial liver-directed therapy, including transarterial chemoembolization or 90Y microsphere therapy
  • Have received vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors within 28 days prior to receiving TheraSphere®
  • Have clinically evident ascites
  • Have any significant extrahepatic metastases (limited extrahepatic metastases in the lung and/or lymph nodes are permitted.


DO I QUALIFY FOR THE STOP-HCC TRIAL IN HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA?

To qualify for the STOP-HCC trial, you must:27,28
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)
  • Be eligible to receive standard-of-care sorafenib
  • Pass specific lab tests

Participants in the STOP-HCC trial must not:
  • Be eligible for curative treatment (ablation or transplantation)
  • Have main portal vein thrombosis (PVT)
  • Have confirmed presence of extrahepatic disease


DO I QUALIFY FOR THE YES-P TRIAL HEPATOCELLIAR CARCINOMA WITH PORTAL VEIN THROMBOSIS?

To qualify for the YES-P trial, you must:29,30
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have advanced stage HCC with branch portal vein thrombosis
  • Be eligible to receive standard-of-care sorafenib
  • Pass specific lab tests

Participants in the YES-P trial must not:
  • Be eligible for curative treatment, including liver transplant
  • Have prior external beam radiation therapy
  • Have previous treatment with sorafenib for more than 4 weeks during the previous 2 months; prior sorafenib-related toxicity
  • Have history of organ allograft
  • Have extrahepatic metastasis
